Breaking News!!
The results of our highly successful IOM Charity Open event held on Sunday 6th January are shown below together with a report and pictures. So far we have raised £630 for our chosen charity, "Momentum".
Hampton Court MYC held it’s annual charity One Metre event on the 6th January which attracted an impressive 26 skippers on the day.
The weather was overcast with light winds from the West which later veered to the North West.
Racing started promptly at 10.15 with Nigel Brown and Darin Ballington winning their respective seeding races.
Despite the light wind, racing was very close throughout the day with many skippers struggling to achieve consistent results. This was not a problem however for Darin who won 5 of the 7 races.
Lunch was laid on in the club house and the start to the afternoon racing was slightly delayed whilst a protest was resolved.
The last race finished at 3.30 by which time the little wind that there was had almost died away. A quick prizegiving was held at the lakeside which enabled a prompt getaway due to failing light.
My thanks go to the Race team for all their hard work and to the other Club members who helped in the preparation for this very successful event.

Our newly adopted class boats, the DF95, have arrived ready for assembly. "Assembly day" - Tuesday 5th June at the Clubhouse at 10.30am. Our Membership Secretary seen here with the owner of RC Yachts, the supplier of the boats (www.radiosailing.co.uk)

"Last but not least, we have some great news about a very prestigious London club who has embraced the DF95 class. Hampton Court have grown their fleet to 12 DF95's in a very short space of time and I for one am looking forward to attending a regatta there in the not too distant future."

Skippers hard at work assembling their newly acquired DF95's on Tuesday 5th June and we had a very good boat building session . Everyone chipped in and completed various jobs on the boats brought to the club. With the exception of one boat the remainder of the fleet seems ready for action bar the application of a few sail numbers. We will be sending the draft amended race programme out shortly and suggesting some dates for the inaugural regatta. The new boat stand is now in use - see below

THEN AND NOW
Model yachting has taken place on the Rick Pond since 1897. Hampton Court Model Yacht Club is one of the largest and most active clubs in the UK. The Club has its own clubhouse and car park situated near to the Rick Pond. We host events at Local, District and National Levels and sail mainly radio controlled yachts but there is also a keen group sailing vane and vintage boats. We sail 6 different classes - the International One Metre (IOM), the Marblehead (M), the 10 Rater (10R) the A Class (A), the Micro Magic (MM) and the Dragon Flite 95 (DF95). The Club has an enthusiastic membership and promotes friendly and competitive racing which takes place up to 3 times per week throughout the year. You can find us at the Rick Pond from about 10am on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
