REPORT
Hampton Court MYC hosted Round 2 of the Met and Southern District Championship on 22nd March 2026, with 17 entries.
The event also incorporated Hampton Court MYC’s annual Charity race postponed from 4th January 2026.
The weather was as predicted, a very light NE wind of about 2-3 mph, compensated by bright sunshine. Unfortunately, the forecast of such light winds led to some withdrawals and the fleet was reduced to eleven boats on the day.
10 races were run, all without any observers such was the good behaviour on the water.
Despite a very variable and oscillating wind direction, reasonable fair courses were set when the marks were set to accommodate this.
Craig Richards had control of the fleet for most of the day, winning six of the ten races, broken by a series of 5th places in races 3, 4 and 5. Following shortly behind were fellow Datchet helms David Lindsay and Nigel Barrow.
Thanks to all the helms coming to this event which turned out to be a very pleasant day.
NB Hampton Court Charity Race will revert to early January next year (weather permitting).
