A Guide to Racing at Hampton Court MYC
1. Club radio races start at 11.00am. Please ensure that you are at the lakeside a few minutes beforehand to allow a prompt start.
2. Open events usually start with a Race Officer briefing at 09.45hrs.
3. Check to ensure that your name and sail number is/has been added to the score sheet (clipped to the metal clipboard kept on the shelf of the race trolley).
4. When there is no-one specifically recording scores, the skipper of the first boat finishing in each race must record the scores for that race – remember your finishing position just in case there is a problem.
5. Traditionally there was a lunch break, normally between 12.30 – 1.00pm, with racing continuing until 14.30. However, since COVID there has been just one session from 11.00 - 1.00pm .
6. Please assist as far as you can with taking the race box and starter to and from the lakeside. Again, if you are able, please assist with the launching and recovery of the rescue dinghy and the laying and recovery of the race marker buoys.
7.THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO HAVE FUN. As a club we strive to help and support all members, experienced or otherwise.
