M&S District RA Championship & PRACC (1)
Sunday 8th March 2015

22 entries were received for the Met. & Southern District RA Championship and PRACC(1) with several skippers travelling some distance to join in the event. Two skippers were unfortunately unable to race but did stay on to watch the action.

The fleet was raced in two heats with Dave Andrews and Peter Wiles taking the top spots. The wind direction couldn't have been any better, coming from the South West at 9-12 mph and with a large windward/leeward type course there were plenty of overtaking opportunities to be had.

No one skipper had it his own way and the top places were hard fought for and well earned. With 20 heats completed by 4.10pm and two discards applied the winner was Peter Wiles (Poole). Only four points separated the next three boats, all of the Sword design. Their skippers were Darin Ballington (Manor Park) in second place followed by Tony Guerrier (Three Rivers) sailing his newly acquired boat with RA veteran Dave Andrews (HCMYC) coming in fourth.

Another splendid Open Meeting for Hampton Court.
