Four HC boats turned out for this Saturday’s 10R Race. The wind was very light, came from every direction and had large holes, which made for interesting sailing. MYSA helms were noticeable for their absence. Terry Colson was sailing his new ‘Aero’ design from Australia and was demonstrating really good speed and acceleration in these light winds (the ‘Aero’ is a lighter boat than the ‘Prizm’ and ‘Diamond’ from Graham). I think his boat will be difficult to beat in lighter conditions but we have yet to see how it will perform in the top of the rig range. Despite the conditions, racing was often close at the finish line with gaps opening and closing around the course. All helms had their fair share of success but none could match Dave Andrews feat of having to have a “place on the water” twice (I leave it to you as to what that place was) much to the delight of the other helms.
At the end of day Dave Andrews just held onto first place from Terry Colson with Duncan Blair coming home third. Colin Boulding was sailing his ‘Pecan’ which shows promise of good improvement. The sun was out and we all enjoyed the day. After racing we cut some
more weed to ensure we can continue sailing tens. There are more Saturday and Thursday event coming up and I hope more helms can make an effort to support these races, in particular MYSA helms. Dave Andrews

5 Boats turned out for this Thursday’s impromptu 10R series. The wind was in a good direction, almost straight down the lake, thus allowing a fair start line and long courses with
good beats. There were, however, many shifts to catch out the unwary helm. The racing was very close in most races with four boats abreast on the runs and much place changing both
upwind and downwind where boats were really creaming along at times. At the end of day Dave Andrews just held onto first place from Martin Shaw with Duncan Blair coming home third
(it would have been higher if he could only resist hitting those marks!!). Mike Stroud got to grips with Colin Harper's "Slim Ten" which was visibly faster off wind than the "Diamond" and
"Prizms" and he was much closer to the pack than the score shows. Colin Boulding was sailing his "Pecan" which was showing good speed and I am sure he will improve his position with more coaching and race experience. The sun was out, we had good wind and all thought it was the best days racing of the season so far so come on all of you Ten Rater and Marblehead sailors, get your boats out and join us. Dave

5 Boats turned out for this Thursday’s impromptu R10R series. The wind was slightly diagonally across the lake giving three good beats per lap. The trees lining the road are now large enough to cause turbulence in the wind in this direction resulting in lots of shifts and shadows. The racing was very close at times with four boats abreast on the runs and much place changing due to large shifts up the beats. At the end of day Dave Andrews just held onto first place from Duncan Blair by one point with Graham Frazer in third place. Martin Shaw had to curtail play to pick up his dog, dropping him to fourth. Colin Boulding demonstrated blistering downwind speed with his Bentley and it is only a matter of time before he gets to grips upwind. Another good days sailing at the Rick. Dave
9 Boats turned out for this Saturday’s (13-4-13) combined HCMYC and MYSA 10R series race. The wind was towards the top of rig one which made for some very swift and exciting sailing. The
direction was not ideal being slightly across the pond with lots of shifts and big gusts to catch the unwary. A long course with three beats sorted out the pecking order. Boats were moving very quickly both up and down wind which allowed us to complete 14 races with ease. Racing was very close with bunch finishes and place changes on the finish line. At the end of an exciting days racing Andy Lunt claimed 1st place, with Dave Andrews second and Martin Shaw third. Report by Dave Andrews

8 Boats turned out for a combined HCMYC and MYSA Saturday 10R series race on Saturday 30th March. The wind was straight up the pond which gave a good long course with lots of shifts to take advantage of. A square course was set and racing started at 11am. Dave Andrews took an early lead with two firsts, however, the morning was to prove that Prizm’s are still very competitive with Andy Lunt taking the lead at lunchtime. The racing was very close and good natured with the first four boats often bunched together at the finish line. Dave Andrews had a revival in the afternoon and just managed to wrest the lead from Andy Lunt in the final race. 17 races were sailed with 4 discards and was won by 1 point. Everybody had a very enjoyable day and went home happy. Dave Andrews
