VINTAGE 'RA' BOAT MATCH RACING, 29/3/14
(Rd.1 of the Wyeth Centenary Trophy)      (For pictures click on "Photo Gallery")
Eight boats turned out for the first of six races organised this year for Vintage Radio A’s.  Five of the boats were glass fibre Highlanders. The other three consisted of Zerlina, a 1960’s boat designed, built and originally sailed by the late Arthur Levision. One of the other boats was to John Lewis’s design Challenge with the third boat of an unknown design.
The wind was a full top suit blowing from the south east. The race was sailed as a match race with the full seven heats completed.
The results were
1st - Dave Andrews sailing  "Skye", a Highlander
2nd - Graham Wyeth sailing "Zerlina"
Joint 2nd - Colin Trower sailing a Highlander
4th 5th and 6th were all Highlanders with the unknown boat in 7th place and the Challenge finishing in 8th place
The next race is scheduled for Saturday May 17th. Why not dig those old A’s out and come and join us . They may not be as fast as the modern boats but they do look superb on the water.
